Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a sharp critique of family-centric politics while inaugurating and laying the foundation stones of development projects worth over ₹3,880 crore in his Lok Sabha constituency, Varanasi. Speaking at a public rally, PM Modi took veiled digs at the Congress and regional opposition parties, accusing them of prioritizing personal family gains over public welfare.
“Sabka Saath vs Parivar Ka Saath”
“Our mantra for serving the nation has always been ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’,” the Prime Minister declared, emphasizing his government’s commitment to inclusive growth. “Then there are people who are always playing games to grab power. Their guiding principle is ‘Parivar ka Saath, Parivar ka Vikas’,” he added, drawing a clear line between his party’s philosophy and that of his political opponents.
Though Modi refrained from naming any party, his comments were clearly directed at Congress and Samajwadi Party, both often accused of dynastic politics.
Varanasi on the Path of Progress
Highlighting the transformation of Varanasi over the past decade, PM Modi said the district had become a hub of development and medical excellence in the Purvanchal region. He praised the region’s economic turnaround, attributing it to a clear roadmap and strong governance.
“In the last few years, UP has changed its outlook and economic roadmap. It’s not just a land of possibilities anymore, but of competence and accomplishments,” Modi said.
He added that Varanasi now offers medical facilities on par with Delhi, significantly improving healthcare access in Eastern Uttar Pradesh.
GI Tags, Global Brands, and Cultural Identity
PM Modi also spoke about the increasing number of Geographical Indication (GI) tags awarded to products from Uttar Pradesh, calling it a source of pride and a symbol of regional identity. “These GI tags are not just labels; they are proof of our region’s unique craftsmanship and global recognition,” he noted.
He asserted that Uttar Pradesh now leads the country in GI-tagged products and emphasized how India is making its skills and local industries known globally.
Healthcare Transformation in Purvanchal
Citing the overhaul of healthcare infrastructure, PM Modi said, “Kashi is becoming the capital of good health in Purvanchal.” He pointed to the growth in hospitals and improved access to medical care, especially for the elderly. “We have not only increased the number of hospitals but also restored the dignity of the people,” he added.
