In a shocking incident that disrupted the peace of a gated residential community, two young men were arrested for engaging in illegal car racing and issuing death threats to residents at Nyati Elan Central South Society in Wagholi, Pune. The Pune City Traffic Police acted swiftly by seizing both SUVs involved—a Mahindra Thar and a Mahindra Scorpio—and initiating legal proceedings against the accused.
The incident occurred around 2 PM on Wednesday, as per a report by Pulse Pune, when the two vehicles were seen repeatedly speeding through the internal roads of the society. Residents were alarmed by the reckless behavior, especially with children playing nearby and families using the pathways.
“It wasn’t just overspeeding—it was full-on racing inside a residential compound,” said a concerned resident. “When we tried to stop them, they turned abusive and threatened us.”
The situation escalated when locals confronted the duo, identified as Shreyash Deepak Gore (19) and Sahil Sandeep Gore (20), both from Gore Vasti, Wagholi. Residents allege that the young men reacted aggressively, issuing threats such as, “If you report this to the police, I’ll kill you,” and “The police won’t do anything to us. No one can touch me.”
In response, residents promptly filed a complaint at the Wagholi Police Station and submitted video evidence of the dangerous driving and threats. The Pune Police responded quickly, arresting both individuals and confirming via social media that legal action was being taken under relevant sections of the law. Both vehicles have been seized as part of the investigation.
The incident has sparked concern among Pune citizens about safety and enforcement inside residential complexes. Authorities have assured continued vigilance and strict action against such reckless behavior that endangers public safety.
