Hyderabad – April 13, 2025:
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s young batting sensation Abhishek Sharma delivered a jaw-dropping performance on Saturday night, smashing a record-breaking 141 off just 55 balls, including a lightning-fast century in just 40 deliveries — now the fifth-fastest century in IPL history.
The fireworks unfolded at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium during Match 27 of IPL 2025, where SRH chased a daunting 246-run target set by Punjab Kings (PBKS). Abhishek walked in with intent and wasted no time dismantling the opposition bowlers with a barrage of boundaries and towering sixes that lit up the night sky and left the PBKS bowling attack in tatters.
Record-Breaking Knock
- Century in 40 balls – 5th fastest in IPL history
- 141 off 55 balls – Highest individual score by an SRH player
- Highest score by an Indian in IPL history
- 2nd fastest SRH century – after Travis Head’s 39-ball hundred (IPL 2024)
The young left-hander’s ferocious innings saw him surpass David Warner’s 131 to become the highest individual scorer in SRH history. Not only that, Abhishek’s score now stands as the highest by an Indian batter in the league’s history, overtaking previous icons of the game.
A Night of Joy for SRH and Fans
The crowd roared as Abhishek reached his century, and SRH co-owner Kavya Maran was seen visibly emotional. She jumped in joy and hugged Abhishek’s proud parents, who were present in the stands to witness their son’s career-defining moment.
Opening alongside Travis Head, the duo unleashed carnage in the powerplay. While Head brought up his second fifty of the season in 31 balls, Abhishek raced to his own half-century in just 19 deliveries. SRH reached a blistering 147/0 in 10.2 overs, setting the tone for what could be one of the greatest chases in IPL history.
Though Chris Gayle’s legendary 30-ball hundred in 2013 remains the fastest ever, Abhishek’s knock has firmly placed him among the league’s most explosive batters and may well define SRH’s 2025 campaign.
What’s Next?
With SRH’s top-order looking more dangerous than ever, and with fearless youth like Abhishek leading the charge, fans and analysts alike are now keeping a close eye on how far this team can go in the tournament.
